American Water Service LLC located in Matthews North Carolina manufactures and distributes world wide home drinking water test kits under the brand name of PurTest®.  The test kits are consumer friendly, fast, accurate and easy to use.

PurTest® is the most comprehensive line of do-it yourself water testing kits available for homeowner use on the market today.  The PurTest® family of kits includes water tests for Bacteria, Nitrate, Nitrite, Lead, Iron, Hardness, pH, Alkalinity, Chlorine, Pesticides, Arsenic, PurPool™ Pool and Spa Bacteria test kit and the comprehensive Home Water Analysis Kit.  Each Test is fast, easy, accurate and economical to use.

In addition to being a master distributor for Wedeco UV products, American Water Service also provides water treatment equipment for residential, commercial and industrial use including softener, drinking water systems and whole house filtration.

In late 1996, American Water Service  launched it’s first PurTest® product, the PurTest® Bacteria Test Kit, in an effort to establish an extensive line of do-it-yourself water tests.  The PurTest® Lead Test Kit was introduced early in 1997 and the Iron/Hardness Plus Test Kit was launched a few months later.  In the fall of 1997, the fourth PurTest® product, the PurTest® Home Water Analysis Kit, was introduced and therefore completed the first line of comprehensive, easy-to-use and reliable consumer water test kits on the market.  

A fifth PurTest® kit for the detection of pesticides was added in 1999.  The company also began marketing a wide range of water testing strips for private label customers.  In late 2000, the company announced the sixth and newest product in the series of PurTest® do-it-yourself home water testing kits.

Today the PurTest® line continues with the PurPool™ Pool and Spa Bacteria Test kit.  Other PurTest® products include a full line UV products for residential and commercial use.
