PURTEST®

  ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT

Bacteria is one of the most common contaminants in water. Fortunately, there are several methods of disinfection:  Ozone, Chlorine, Iodine Injection, Ultraviolet (UF) light and Reverse Osmosis (RO).  UV and RO are both chemically free disinfection methods, and generally enhance the taste of most water.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Ultraviolet light cannot be seen because its wavelengths are shorter than visible light and carry more energy;  sufficient to kill microorganisms. As water passes through the UV unit (which can be used to treat one faucet or the entire house), the UV light shines through the water, eliminates the microorganisms, and the water exits 99.9% safe.  Maintenance is simple:  change the bulb and clean the quartz sleeve once a year.

PURTEST® ultraviolet units are designed as simple, cost effective bacteria treatment.  Sizes are available depending on water volume demand in your home.  PURTEST® stainless steel units run on regular household electrical current and have a full 10-year warranty on the disinfection chamber.
